Bideford Town Council is the local council for four wards of Bideford Town. It has 16 Councillors, 4 for each ward. As a Town Council, it is chaired by a Mayor.
The Council provides local services, including allotments and recreation spaces as well as managing and funding the Christmas Illuminations. We also fund and manage all the hanging baskets around the Town Centre as well as the Floral Planter and Port Memorial Display.
The Council is responsible for the Market Complex and Butcher's Row.
The Council has an annual grant awards scheme, which is open in the November each year, with grants to 50+ local organisations awarded paid in the next financial year.
The Town Council are also responsible for organising and funding many annual events such as :-
- The Mayor's Procession
- Bideford Summer Fair
- Manor Court
- The Christmas Illumination Switch On.
We have a small team of Town Rangers who are based out of our Town Ranger Depot at Caddesdown.
